May Hill Massacre » About

A note from Mike Wood, the race organiser

The 4th May Hill Massacre was, yet again, a huge success – success to me is all the runners finishing muddy, exhausted, safe and happy!

We had a great mixture of club runners, mud lovers, masochists and CF Trust supporters. Runners came from far and wide – from Telford to London.

It was good to see so many familiar faces and lots of new ones too.

The race has raised approximately £3,500 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust this year – a total over the 4 years of about £13,500. This is only possible due to the following:

  • The sponsors, who cover the costs of the event
  • The land owners and businesses who let us use their land & premises
  • The local running club officials who lend their time and equipment
  • The amazing Newent Marshalling team
  • An army of family and friends
  • Last and most importantly, the runners who support and enjoy the race

Thank you all for your support.

Please check out the race reviews on the Runners World website.

The 2011 race date will be advertised in August or September, so keep an eye on this website – the race will be held around the 1st weekend in February.
Remember, we filled up a month before the race this year, so get your entries in early…

2011 will be the last time I organise the race for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust; I have handed it over to Black Sheep Sports, who I am sure will do a fantastic job, so the race will carry on…..

Look forward to seeing you all next year.
